A-Line Waist

These dresses are made to fit your waist and then gradually flare out towards the hem. A-line dresses are excellent for minimizing thighs, hips, and midsections while pulling the eyes to your bust. This style of dress is a great fit for almost any body type. There's a reason why so many brides settle on A-Line dresses for their big day! With plenty of varieties, this is a kind of dress that you can wear again and again.

Empire Waist

Like the A-Line style, empire dresses are made to fit through your bust. Rather than creating a distinctly angular shape like the A-Line, the Empire style flows from the bust down. This is another kind of dress that fits many body types. From curvy to apple body shapes, the Empire draws focus to your bust and minimizes everything else. For lovely ladies on the shorter side, this style defines your silhouette, especially if you choose a maxi length dress.

Drop Waist

A throwback to the roaring 20's style flapper dresses, Drop Waist dresses look best on lean, athletic bodies that don't have too many curves in the hip area. The key to pulling off a Drop Waist style dress is to ensure that it's not hugging you. This dress is best worn when it is able to hang freely on your body.

Shift Dresses in Taylors

Shift dresses are typically rectangular in shape and tend to be comfy and forgiving since they aren't fitted. Also called a column dress, the shift dress is a great choice for polished professionals needing a conservative, fashionable outfit for work.
These dresses look fabulous on women with athletic, lean shapes and women with an apple-like figure. This kind of dress doesn't work well with a belt, so ladies with an hourglass figure may not be able to show off their curves in a shift. Try pairing this dress with a nice pair of heels for a beautiful new look!

Wrap Dresses in Taylors

Wrap dresses are one of the most popular styles on the market, because they give ladies of most shapes and sizes a flattering, fashionable dress option.
If you have an hourglass, apple, or generally curvy body shape, you're going to love wrap dresses. This style of dress offers a natural waist while placing emphasis on your bust. Wrap dresses give you a balanced silhouette and, with a knee-length fit, are great for any type of color or style, both day and nightwear.

How to Find the Right Fit for Your Women's Top

When choosing a women's top for your outfit, you have to consider how comfortable, confident, and beautiful you will feel. The best way to feel your best in an outfit is to make sure it fits correctly. To get started, you'll want to take your measurements. For most women's tops, the best areas to focus on are your hips, waist, and chest.

  • Hip Measurements: Measuring your hips is fairly easy. Take your measuring tape and use it to wrap around the widest area of your hips.
  • Waist Measurements: Take your measuring tape and place it at the very top of your hip bone. Wrap it all the way around your body. Try to keep your measuring tape in line with your belly button. For the most accurate measurements, stand up straight and breathe normally.
  • Chest Measurements: For an accurate chest measurement, take the end of your measuring tape and place it on the fullest area of your bust. From there, wrap the tape around your body, under your armpits, and around the blades of your shoulders. Then, wrap the tape tightly from the back of your body to the front, where you started.

If you’ve not been to this repurposed mill in Taylors yet, there are so many reasons to go. Here are the restaurants and entertainment venues available at Taylor’s Mill.

The History of Southern Bleachery & Print Works

From 1924 to 1965, the Southern Bleachery Mill purchased unfinished textiles from surrounding mills and then bleached, dyed, and created finished products.

In 2012 Southern Bleachery & Print Works was added to the National Register of Historic Places. When the mill closed in 1965, it sat vacant for the most part until 2015. Then, coffee and artist’s studios breathed life into the quiet that had existed for so long down this dead-end street in Taylors, SC. Since 2015, the use of the mill has expanded to include places to dine, play, workout, party, and more!

Kidding Around’s Maria is a huge fan of coffee and was terribly excited to discover that a new coffee shop had moved in.

“Junto Coffee is located in an amazing space. Its huge windows let in an abundance of light reflecting the lightly painted walls and ceiling, creating a very warm feeling. Some of the windows look to be original and really add to the charm of the space. And let’s talk about the plants. I love green, growing things. Each window is decorated with a hanging plant and there are large, mature potted plants throughout the comfortable seating. There are a multitude of living room-type sets of furniture as well as benches and more traditional chairs and tables spread throughout the large space. There is also a grassy outdoor space with tables that would be a perfect spot for moms with a couple of little kids to meet up.”Read our review for Junto Coffee in its entirety on Kidding Around Greenville.

It’s no secret that a few of us here at Kidding Around are self-described pizza snobs. We have particular criteria, and we definitely each have our favorites. The Farehouse is now on my list of go-to pizza places, and I’m mad I didn’t make it there sooner. The pizza, coupled with the gargantuan-sized chicken wigs, topped potato wedges, and the extensive cocktail list, makes for a meal that will make stops at this hidden gem a regular occurrence for your family.

The Southern Bleachery has broken ground on phase two of their multimillion-dollar restoration of the old textile mill off Main Street in Taylors.

The Southern Bleachery is a planned multi-use event and retail space restored to the National Park System's historical preservation guidelines.

The project is in phase two, will cost roughly $10 million and be completed by the end of next year, owner and developer Lawrence Black said.

When the master plan is complete in a couple years, more than three buildings and roughly 15 acres are planned to support numerous businesses, events and trade shows.

The wedding space at the neighboring Taylors Mill is also called the Southern Bleachery, but the name also applies to the massive project underway on the front half of the historic textile mill. Even though the wedding venue is in Taylors Mill, it is still owned by The Southern Bleachery development team.

The collection of brick and metal buildings sits clustered together and are a part of the overall Southern Bleachery development, but each space will "have a different identity," Black said.

The project was approved to receive tax credits by Greenville County Council. The credits are part of the South Carolina Textile Communities Revitalization Act, which give qualifying projects tax credits that equal up to 25% of the total expenses.

"Renovating the buildings to the historical standard is so much more expensive, and it just wouldn’t have been possible without it," Black said of the tax credits.

QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

Junto Coffee and The Marketplace are the two venues currently open for business, but Black and his team has a litany of other projects coming over the next year.

The Butler Building

Situated on the left side of the road as soon as you enter the Mill's property, the white aluminum Butler Building will house Junto Coffee's roasting operation, a raw seafood bar and a bakery. A grassy lawn and outdoor seating will be available for patrons. Black said construction will begin in earnest in two months and will cost $1.4 million.

The Butler Building has a tentative opening set for June 2020.

The Boiler Room

The red-bricked building houses one of Taylors Mill's two smokestacks. Demolition is underway, with the original windows set to be restored and installed by October. Black said it will be leased, but he would love to see a boutique hotel, co-working space or design studio fill the historic building. The estimated cost to renovate is $2.6 million, Black said.

The Boiler Room will take the longest to complete. If a hotel moves into the space, it won't be completed with the rest of the project. "A hotel will push us into 2021," Black said.

The Filtration Building

Tucked into the corner of the property between two retention ponds, the Filtration building was once used to filter the mill village's drinking water. It's being used as a workspace for the window restorers, but will be utilized for smaller weddings and events, like corporate retreats.

A renovated craftsman-style home a few yards from the building will be used as private bridal and groom suites for weddings. The project will be finished in a few months and cost $625,000, according to Black, who is the property's sole developer.

The upper retention pond will be filled with water and restored, and the lower pond will be landscaped for a dog park, according to Black.

The Hill and The Tree House

The Warehouse's long body ends in the base of a terraced hill known as The Hill. There already have been events on the grassy expanse, but outdoor restrooms, a food truck-meets-outdoor patio and a playground will be added by mid-October, according to Southern Bleachery special events manager Nathan Brannon.

The tree House sits at the top of the hill, offering a view of the mill and the surrounding woods. Black said he was inspired by his "9-year-old maturity level," his three young sons and the treehouse at Bluffton's high-end resort Palmetto Bluff.

The treehouse will be ADA-compliant and have three levels for kids to play. It's one of "six or seven" child-friendly play areas planned for the property.

Black also is planning to add more trails throughout the property. A 900-foot paved pathway — which Black said was paved to the same standards as the Swamp Rabbit Trail — is in place. Cypress tress, wildflowers and more grass are all set to be installed by late October. In total, Black said landscaping will cost around $800,000.

Shark Tank

It's not a new renovation or business, but Black wants to host a Shark Tank-style public forum for local entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas for two planned vendor locations.

The bakery space planned for the Butler building and the current space Junto Coffee is in (the coffeeshop will be moving to a smaller building on property within the next year).

Parking, parking, parking

Along with the the three lots currently in use, Black said two more lots, an additional 600 spaces, will be added. The three parking ares already in use will be paved in the coming weeks.

The neighboring Taylors Mill has several hundred parking spaces, but Southern Bleachery visitors will have their own ample space to park once the project is completed next year.

Taylor Watts and Sophia Hill are officially husband and wife!

The Christian TikTok stars known as Taylor and Soph exchanged traditional vows at Heyward Manor, a 650-acre tree farm in Iva, S.C., on Saturday during their "classy and timeless" ceremony.

Ahead of their nuptials, the pair told PEOPLE they couldn't wait for their big day.

"I'm most looking forward to Sophia walking down the aisle," says Watts, 21. "First seeing her I feel like the moment of realization like that, 'Wow, we're about to be united into one. We're about to become one.' "

In a dress by Stella York, from Tiffinie Bleu Bridal, the bride walked down the aisle to "Gratitude" by Brandon Lake on her way to the altar, where she joined Watts and their 12 bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Following the ceremony, a buffet style dinner of house and Caesar salad, antipasto, beef, grilled chicken and three different types of pastas were served before the couple cut into their four-tiered vanilla and buttercream wedding cake.

Wedding Planner Designs Her Own Glamorous Yet Sustainable Big Day — See Her Photos and Top Tips

In posts leading up to wedding day, the couple told social media followers that subscribers to their YouTube channel could get an invite. "We're so excited. You'll literally be able to come from the start of the wedding to the end," Hill said in a post urging people to subscribe. "We'll see you at the wedding."

The couple first connected in February 2020. "We were in our hometown, and we met through some mutual friends," says Hill. "Taylor and I, we started chatting and then we were dating within a week."

Watts popped the question with a ring by Helzberg Diamonds on Nov. 28, 2022.

Nurses Marry in Emotional Wedding After Epic Engagement at Hospital Where They Fell in Love During Pandemic

"We saw no benefit in having a long engagement and we had no true reason to wait," says Hill. "I've looked forward to wedding planning my entire life. I always knew I wanted to do a fun wedding. With it being such a short period of time to plan, it was stressful at times. But overall, it was just really fun. And we wouldn't change anything about having a short engagement."

Hill did the bulk of the wedding planning but says her husband offered his input in one department.

"I helped pick the food," he says. "I picked Italian. That I had a big hand in, but other than that, colors or schemes or anything like that, not my thing."

Now that they're setting into married life, Hill and Watts are looking forward to their future and sharing a home once he finishes classes at the University of Georgia.

"I'm super excited to just be able to live together," says Hill. "Right now, it's not crazy long distance but with him being at school — it's only an hour and a half away — it's somewhat of a long distance."

Watts is also ready to move in with his new wife — and perhaps start a family soon. "I'll just be excited when we can live together and have our own house and be able to do routines together and everything and life together," he says. "And I'm also just very excited to have lots of babies. When we get married, I don't think we'll wait very long. And then once we start, we'll probably keep going for a couple!"

Taylors Roller Sports celebrates 50 years of old school skating, family fun

In August of 1969, eight-year-old Danny Newman attended the grand opening of Wade Hampton Roller Rink in Taylors.

Five decades later, Newman bent down to lace up his skates once more before leaning back against the same carpeted walls he would've leaned on 50 years ago.

"I've been here since doors open. It'll hook you like a bad drug," the Campobello resident said. "Lord, God knows if it wasn't for the skating rink what I'd have been into."

Newman, now 58, was back at the roller rink, now Taylors Roller Sports, for Old School Skate Night, a yearly celebration of the retro skate culture of the '70s and '80s.

On Sunday night, about 100 people – young, old and every age in between – wobbled and glided over the well-worn rink floor. Three generations of families, couples rekindling the romance of their youth and past championship roller skaters skated to disco hits.

"It's the only time they can really see each other really, once a year, because family takes over, life takes over. So, once a year everybody gets to meet up," said Chris Bellinger, owner of Roller Sports.

Bellinger spent his youth in skates, competing in speed skating competitions, taking lessons from Newman and spending his Friday and Saturday nights on the rink with friends he still has to this day.

Bellinger and his wife, Allison, bought the rink in 2009, on the heels of the recession. Bellinger was laid off from General Motors, so he called the then-owner of Roller Sports, Lawson Scoggins, to ask for a job.

"I told him I just got laid off and he said, 'Good. You can buy me out.'"

In the decade since he took over, Bellinger and his wife have kept the Old School Skate Nights going, a yearly tradition that started about 15 years ago.

"A lot of people here tonight are friends from way back when," Jeffrey Wade Hand of Greer said Sunday night. "Kids that I've raised have come here."

Hand pointed to his daughter sitting on a bench, watching the skaters zoom past as she held Hand's granddaughter.

Bringing the '70s and '80s back

The skating rink has an undeniable smell.

Five decades of sweat, old skates and cigarette smoke cling to the burgundy carpeted walls and geometric, psychedelic cutouts fashioned around the rink.

While not much cosmetically has changed, the bygone culture of the '70s has.

"It was the '70s. You'd see six-year-olds smoking cigarettes. It was just a different time. But it would've been packed, there'd be 400 people skating the floor at one time," Bellinger said of the Friday nights he spent at the rink in that decade.

Eddie Crawford spent Sunday night in the DJ booth, playing the same Prince hits he played while he worked at the rink during the '80s.

His favorite memories from that time were all-night skates.

"You'd get in at about seven o'clock on Friday night and we did all night skates to the following morning. And that's one of the things that was really cool for kids to be able to do and have a good time," Crawford said.

Old School Skate Nights are popular nationwide, with similar skating rinks in Tampa, San Antonio and San Francisco all throwing "adults-only" skate nights.

But in Taylors, Old School Skate Night was for all ages.

"This is a big family. That's all it is, a big skate family," Newman said.
