These dresses are made to fit your waist and then gradually flare out towards the hem. A-line dresses are excellent for minimizing thighs, hips, and midsections while pulling the eyes to your bust. This style of dress is a great fit for almost any body type. There's a reason why so many brides settle on A-Line dresses for their big day! With plenty of varieties, this is a kind of dress that you can wear again and again.

Like the A-Line style, empire dresses are made to fit through your bust. Rather than creating a distinctly angular shape like the A-Line, the Empire style flows from the bust down. This is another kind of dress that fits many body types. From curvy to apple body shapes, the Empire draws focus to your bust and minimizes everything else. For lovely ladies on the shorter side, this style defines your silhouette, especially if you choose a maxi length dress.

A throwback to the roaring 20's style flapper dresses, Drop Waist dresses look best on lean, athletic bodies that don't have too many curves in the hip area. The key to pulling off a Drop Waist style dress is to ensure that it's not hugging you. This dress is best worn when it is able to hang freely on your body.
SHOP NOWOnce you know the kind of waist that fits your body type, it's time to find your shape. A few of our most popular dress shapes include:
Any clothing store for women in Wake Forest, NC, worth its salt, will have plenty of fit & flare dresses for you to try. This common-shaped dress is one of the most popular on the market, mainly because they look great on every woman, regardless of age or shape. A timeless choice, fit & flare dresses fit through the bodice and flare out just below your hip. This helps develop a balanced, slimming silhouette for most women. If you want to accentuate your best assets and hide everything else, ask our experienced fashionistas to show you some the most popular fit & flare dresses at Copper Penny.
Time to start doing your happy dance! Fit & flare dresses have very balanced proportions, making them a true winner for every body type. Women with athletic builds love this dress for the extra curves. Women with apple-shaped bodies love how fit & flare dresses define their waistlines. Because this dress already looks like an hourglass on the hanger, it will be a natural fit for ladies with such a figure.
Shift dresses are typically rectangular in shape and tend to be comfy and forgiving since they aren't fitted. Also called a column dress, the shift dress is a great choice for polished professionals needing a conservative, fashionable outfit for work.
These dresses look fabulous on women with athletic, lean shapes and women with an apple-like figure. This kind of dress doesn't work well with a belt, so ladies with an hourglass figure may not be able to show off their curves in a shift. Try pairing this dress with a nice pair of heels for a beautiful new look!
Wrap dresses are one of the most popular styles on the market, because they give ladies of most shapes and sizes a flattering, fashionable dress option.
If you have an hourglass, apple, or generally curvy body shape, you're going to love wrap dresses. This style of dress offers a natural waist while placing emphasis on your bust. Wrap dresses give you a balanced silhouette and, with a knee-length fit, are great for any type of color or style, both day and nightwear.

Until then, here's a quick guide you can follow to help you find the right fit for your women's top in Wake Forest:
When choosing a women's top for your outfit, you have to consider how comfortable, confident, and beautiful you will feel. The best way to feel your best in an outfit is to make sure it fits correctly. To get started, you'll want to take your measurements. For most women's tops, the best areas to focus on are your hips, waist, and chest.
Hip Measurements: Measuring your hips is fairly easy. Take your measuring tape and use it to wrap around the widest area of your hips.
Waist Measurements: Take your measuring tape and place it at the very top of your hip bone. Wrap it all the way around your body. Try to keep your measuring tape in line with your belly button. For the most accurate measurements, stand up straight and breathe normally.
Chest Measurements: For an accurate chest measurement, take the end of your measuring tape and place it on the fullest area of your bust. From there, wrap the tape around your body, under your armpits, and around the blades of your shoulders. Then, wrap the tape tightly from the back of your body to the front, where you started.
Swing by Copper Penny and ask one of our friendly sales associates to help you out! While you're there, don't forget to check out our huge selection of women's tops in Wake Forest, NC.

LET THE MCKENNA ERA BEGIN • Coach McKenna begins her tenure at SMU after serving as the head coach at Wisconsin since 2017. • McKenna's tenure at Wisconsin was defined by a dramatic program turnaround. When she arrived in the fall of 2016, the Badgers were coming off a 4-16 season and a winless Big Ten campaign. In her second year, Wisconsin began to show progress, and by her third season in 2018-19, the team posted an 18-6 record, finished second in the Big Ten at 9-2, and earned its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2005. • By 2023, the Badgers had achieved one of the best seasons in school history: 20 victories (first in 25 years), a No. 11 national ranking at their peak (highest since 1996), and a season-ending No. 22 ITA ranking, along with the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 2002. Under McKenna's leadership, Wisconsin evolved from the bottom of the Big Ten into a nationally respected contender, consistently competing against and defeating top 25 programs. • Over the last three seasons, McKenna has led the Badgers to a record of 58-21, including three straight NCAA Round of 32 appearances. Last season, McKenna coached Maria Sholokhova to a 2024 Women's ITA All-American Singles Championship, becoming the program's first All-American since 1998 in 2025. • McKenna and Sholokhova became the first coach-player duo, men's or women's, to both win the ITA All-American Singles Championship.

Week 3 of the college football season kicked off on Thursday night with just one game taking place as NC State faced Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
It was a battle of two undefeated ACC teams. NC State won against East Carolina and Virginia and Wake Forest defeated Kennesaw State and Western Carolina, although the Week 1 game against Kennesaw State was a close one with a 10-9 final score.
On Thursday night, both teams scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, although not in the ordinary way. Chris Barnes returned the opening kickoff 98 yards to put Wake Forest on top.
Then, Wake Forest scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown by Demond Claiborne. NC State followed it up with a five-yard touchdown pass to Justin Joly, and the Wolfpack tied the game on a must-see pick-six by defensive lineman Isaiah Shirley.
As if that first quarter wasn't whacky enough, another bizarre incident took place.
One food truck caught fire, sending billows of smoke into the stadium.
As such, fans couldn't help but react to a wild first quarter.
"A BBQ truck catching on fire during an NC State and Wake Forest game is peak ACC," one fan .
"A "food truck fire delay" might be the most NC State-Wake Forest in Winston-Salem thing I've ever seen," another.
"The NFL game is nice and all, but have you ever seen Wake Forest and NC State play next to a food truck that’s on fire?" another .
"Thick Six while a food truck is on fire at Wake Forest’s stadium. Never change, college football," stated.
"Apparently there is a lot of smoke going over the field at Wake Forest due to a fire in a BBQ truck. God bless college football," college football reporter Stewart Mandel .
The food truck is called Choc's Barbecue CO. and Southern Catering, and the video shows the flames in the truck.
Let's not forget this was just the first quarter, and yet another reminder of why college football is unique as can be.

Wake Forest’s first two football commitments for its 2027 recruiting class have North Carolina high school ties. Providence Day wide receiver/kick returner Steele Fletcher and Oak Grove offensive lineman Charlie Reece both committed to the Demon Deacons earlier this month.
Fletcher is the son of former NFL linebacker London Fletcher, who won a Super Bowl with the Rams among other highlights.
The younger Fletcher won an NCISAA state championship with Providence Day last season, and will provide speed and explosiveness to Wake’s offense and special teams.
During Providence Day’s state title run, Fletcher made 37 catches for 434 yards and six touchdowns. He scored one touchdown on a kickoff return.
Fletcher is listed as a three-star prospect and the No. 36 player in North Carolina, per 247Sports. Other schools to offer include Maryland, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, Charlotte, Jacksonville State, Kent State, Delaware State and Sacramento State. Per 247Sports, Fletcher has run a 11.62 in the 100 meters during track season.
“A goal of mine was to commit on my late mother’s birthday, and today I can say I did,” Fletcher posted on X when he pledged to the Deacs on Feb. 12. “I’m beyond blessed to announce my commitment to Wake Forest University!”
Reece helped pave the way for an Oak Grove team that won the Piedmont Triad 5A/6A Conference and finished 9-4 overall. 247Sports lists Reece as a three-star player and the No. 35 player in North Carolina for 2027.
Wake Forest offered the 6-5, 255-pounder in late January, and Reece picked the Demon Deacons over other recent offers from Liberty and Elon.
Reece already has a summer official visit lined up with Wake Forest for June.
Braxton Davis, an all-conference tight end from East Surry High in Pilot Mountain, will join Davidson College’s program this fall. Davis committed to the Wildcats on Feb. 12, adding a versatile two-sport standout to the FCS program’s most recent high school recruiting class.
Davis, listed at 6-3, 235 pounds, caught 36 passes for 494 yards and 10 touchdowns for East Surry this past season. Those numbers rank among the best for tight ends in the state. The Cardinals finished 5-7.
Davis also plays on East Surry’s basketball team and has twice received all-conference recognition on the hardwood. He was recognized in January for scoring his 1,000th point. He logged 22 points in the second half of a recent game against West Stokes.
He has a 4.57 GPA in the classroom and reports an 80-inch wingspan, which could make him a formidable weapon in Davidson’s offense.
Super blessed and excited to announce my commitment to Davidson College to play Division 1 football and continue my academic career. None of this would be possible without the unwavering support and guidance from my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Tre’ Stone, a first-team all-region linebacker from Alabama’s Opelika High, has committed to Appalachian State. Stone is the second player to verbally commit to the .
Opelika finished as the 7A state runner-up this past season. Stone finished with 70 tackles, including 42 solo stops, three tackles-for-loss, one interception and three pass breakups. Alabama Prep Varsity listed Stone among its top rising senior linebackers in the state.

Recruiting is still in its early stages for many of North Carolina’s Class of 2027 prospects, but players are already beginning to come off the board. Ten of 247Sports’ top in-state players have announced commitments, with programs such as NC State, North Carolina, Duke and Wake Forest securing early pledges alongside national programs like Notre Dame, Ohio State and Nebraska.
NC Football News is tracking those commitments as they happen throughout the cycle.
